A Day of Firsts #beingtrans #voting #hoping

Today is a watershed day for us. Hitting the polls as I type is Rowena Siobhan Nelson (yeah, that’s what she chose… my maiden surname and trust me, that still brings chills and tears and motherly pride to these old bones).

This is the first presidential election, the first ever opportunity to elect a woman to the highest office in the land, that I approach with my daughter at the helm of Team Nelson.

Both of us are intensely patriotic, committed to establishing equal rights and equal treatment under the law, and completely supportive of the men and women in service to our country even if we don’t always agree on national policy and directives.

We take our responsibility as citizens seriously.

Please vote. Make your voice heard.

With love and respect to all.

About Nya Rawlyns

Nya Rawlyns doesn’t write typical romance. She writes emotion as a contact sport, rough and often raw. It need not be pleasant, heart-warming or forever after. What she seeks is what lies beneath—a dance of extremes, the intersect of need and desire, and the compromises we make when pain and pleasure become indistinguishable. ***** She has lived in the country and on a sailboat on the Chesapeake Bay, earned more than 1000 miles in competitive trail and endurance racing, taught Political Science to unwilling freshmen, and found an avocation in materials science. ***** When she isn’t tending to her garden or the horses, the cats, or three pervert parakeets, she can be found day dreaming and listening to the voices in her head.
