Leena McCall, Portrait of Ms Ruby May
The latest bit of crazy to surface is the removal of this painting from The Mall Gallery, London (UK) for being “too pornographic and disgusting”. The artist put out a Call for Debate.
Adding to the WAR on WOMEN we now have to fight skirmishes involving censorship, prudery and outright misogynistic thinking on the art front.
Apparently these are fine:

Imperial Nude, Paul Rosano

John Singer Sargent, Reclining Male Nude, c. 1890 – 1915

Edward Degas, Metropolitan Museum Of Art

Michaelangelo’s David

Nude Study of Thomas McKeller (1917), Sargent
What say you, readers?
I say a pox on them – the picture is less revealing than most bathing suits. Even if it had been fully nude, so what? What’s so awful about the female body? Nothing – that’s what!!
